Fingerprint Scanner - FS20
EBI's FS20 USB2.0 Fingerprint Scanner uses advanced CMOS sensor technology with precise optical system to deliver high quality fingerprint images. Compared with other optical scanners that use inexpensive plastic lenses or vulnerable silicon padded lenses, the FS20 finger scanning window is a crown glass with a thickness of 14mm built to withstand any harsh or torturesome terrain like tropical weather areas. This makes the scanner much more reliable and robust even as compared to any semiconductor type fingerprint sensors. The FS20 employs advanced imaging technology for the most reliable finger scans. Finger Illumination is done via 4 infra-red LEDs. During the finger scanning stage the FS20 uses automatic light intensity adjustments according to the scanned fingerprint's characteristics (wet, dry, blurred, etc) to optimize the quality of the captured fingerprint image.
The scanner also employs a special electronic circuit built into FS20 to do Live Finger Detection(LFD). That is, with appropriate software in the PC, users can select this LFD feature so that only live fingers fingerprints will be scanned into PC. Fake fingers made from silicone rubber, play-dough, etc. will be rejected.

Fingerprint Scanner Smart Card Reader - FSSR40
The EBI FSSR40 Fingerprint Scanner Smartcard Reader combines EBI's FS20 USB2.0 Fingerprint Scanner and an ISO7816 smart card reader into one device.
FSSR40 has exactly all features of FS20 including its ruggedness. It can be used as purely fingerprint scanner with all applicable software. The smart card reader in FS82 FSSR40 handles any ISO7816 compatible smart card and can also be used as a standalone smart card reader.
For application purposes, the FSSR40 can be combined to do two-factor authentication. Enrolled fingerprint can be stored on smart card(carried by user) which is read into PC to match with a freshly captured fingerprint from fingerprint scanner at the time of authentication. This can be achieved by using any applicable software or EBI's supported applications and APIs.
